To continue the day’s theme of outing creepy privacy-violating corners of the internet: Spokeo is a “new online phone book” which also publishes all of your personal information. Everything shows up on this site—from pics you’ve posted on facebook or the web, your credit score, home value, phone number, income, age, etc.

To remove yourself, do a search for yourself on the site to find your page’s URL, then go to the Privacy link at the bottom of the page to remove yourself.

DONE AND DONE. Fucking hell. 

I just removed my name, email and phone number.

Luckily, my Facebook is buttoned up pretty tight, so they didn’t have much on me.

But to be safe, I cleared my email and phone too.

Everyone should do this, unless you like Big Brother on your doorstep.

I couldn’t find myself as it doesn’t seem to do it outside of the USA? Please correct me if I missed a ‘search the world’ feature or something though! But for all my American tumblr friends, check this shit out! So creepy.

So fucked. I wasn’t on there but my parents were, took them both off. Fuck this so much.

Wow.  Had to remove my mom’s name.  Seriously.  This is fucked.  How do they know her hobbies and that we have a fucking fireplace in our house?

It gather info from different sources like Facebook, so that would be where the hobbies come from, but I have no idea how it knows things like whether or not you’ve got a fireplace. So weird.
